Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow, India, is an international cricket Stadium situated in lucknow,  the capital city of Indian state Uttar Pradesh ,like Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium , Raipur, the capital city of Chhatisgarh. Seating capacity of the Stadium is 50,000, it is India’s seventh largest international cricket Stadium. It was known as Ekana Cricket Stadium before . In 2018, the Uttar Pradesh government renamed the stadium to honor former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Afghanistan’s cricket team used it as their home ground in 2019. Prior to its construction, the K.D. Singh Babu stadium in Lucknow hosted international cricket matches.

The arena will host four Men’s Cricket World Cup matches in 2023.In comparison to all other stadiums in India, the stadium has the longest straight boundaries. It is the home ground of the Uttar Pradesh cricket team, the UP women’s cricket team, and the Lucknow Super Giants.

The initiative to build a world-class stadium in Lucknow was commissioned in 2014, and Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow was developed through a public-private partnership between Ekana Sportz City and the Lucknow Development Authority during the UP government during 2012-2017 . Ekana Sportz City is a partnership between Nagarjuna Construction Company and GC Construction and Development Industries Pvt Ltd. According to the collaboration agreement, the government granted Ekana Sportz City a 35-year lease on 71 acres to develop the cricket stadium, with the term expiring in 2052. Additionally, the UP government allotted 66 acres of additional property for real estate projects on a 99-year lease. The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow was constructed on a budget of 360 crores.

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow hosted the final of the 2017-18 Duleep Trophy before its international debut. The stadium staged its debut international match on November 6, 2018, a Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and the West Indies, making it the 52nd venue in India to hold an international cricket event. After the India-Sri Lanka test match in 1994, international cricket returned to the city of Lucknow after a gap of 24 years. In the game, Rohit Sharma became the first player in T20I history to score four hundreds. Indian Cricket Team won that match by a score of 71 runs.The K.D. Singh Babu Stadium last held an international match in January 1994, when India played a test match versus Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan Cricket Board asked that the BCCI use Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow for international matches in May 2019.The BCCI gave the facility to the Afghanistan cricket team in August 2019 as their home ground in India, before played in Dehradun and Greater Noida.

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow hosted all of the matches in the 2019 Afghanistan vs. West Indies series. The venue hosted its maiden ODI match on November 6, 2019. The venue staged its maiden Test match on November 27, 2019.

The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium Lucknow was set to host all of the matches for the fourth edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge in May 2022. The matches were later diverted to Pune.

The state government conducted an award ceremony in the stadium on August 19, 2021, to celebrate the athletes who won medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics, which were held in Tokyo, Japan. The Uttar Pradesh government provided financial assistance to all of them. The best prize was awarded to Neeraj Chopra, the only Indian to win a gold medal in the javelin throw at the 2020 Summer Olympics .
